It's a strange legacy. You mention Gloria Stuart to the man on the street and they shrug; you add You know, the old lady from Titanic, and they get you then. Well, TCM is doing things up right for Gloria Stuart this coming Friday night, November 4, as it airs four of her films from between 1933-1935 while restraining themselves from their umpteenth Titanic airing.
Gloria Stuart had been one of our few surviving stars from Hollywood's Golden Age until her passing last September at age 100, at which time she, and, er hem, Titanic, were in the spotlight one more time. But Friday night TCM gives classic movie fans an evening of the Gloria Stuart we choose to remember, as do the sites we visit in today's Classic Movie Search found down below. Enjoy:

It's hard to believe it's been over a year already, but many of the classic film sites indexed here published remembrances of Gloria Stuart when she died last September 26 at age 100, including: Comet Over Hollywood, Laura's Miscellaneous Musings, A Shroud of Thoughts, and myself at Immortal Ephemera, among many others.
- Earlier in 2010 many sites celebrated Stuart's 100th Birthday. TCM's Movie Morlocks blog embedded several videos into their centennial tribute
- Horror classic The Invisible Man kicks off TCM's Gloria Stuart tribute at 8 pm EST. Here's The Invisible Man as covered on Cinema OCD and recently revived for the season at A Mythical Monkey Writes About the Movies
- Chills of another kind come to you courtesy of Busby Berkeley in Gold Diggers of 1935 at 9:30 pm EST. Here's Laura's take at Laura's Miscellaneous Musings
- Cagney and O'Brien star in Here Comes the Navy at 11:15 pm EST, a nominee for Best Picture in 1934 - Edward Copeland on Film tries to figure that one out
- There's honestly not a lot of info to be found inside the Search on Maybe It's Love, our 1:00 am EST nightcap, but the Movie Mirrors Index has a brief synopsis for us.
- While I'm sure most of us Classic Film Fans are happy TCM didn't thrust Titanic in our path this evening, many are probably curious as to what happened to The Old Dark House. If you're missing this one too then you can head over to Dave's Classic Films to read all about it.

I wanted to get this out by Tuesday for readers in the US and Canada to give a heads-up that 20th Century-Fox's The Razor's Edge (1946) is airing on TCM this Wednesday night, October 26, at 8 pm EST. Again, this is a Fox film, so while it shows up sometimes on Fox Movie Channel this is being listed as its Turner Classic Movies premeire.
As soon as I received my October Now Playing Guide and noticed that TCM was playing The Razor's Edge this month I got to work. This is one of my favorite movies ever and I wanted an article up on my site before TCM aired it. I just posted that up yesterday, so please check out The Razor's Edge on Immortal Ephemera. After getting that all out of my head I thought it'd be nice to use this site to see what others have posted about this beautiful movie in recent years.
To that effect we'll go finding inside the Search just under this vintage image of underrated Razor's Edge star Gene Tierney. Tierney is shown on a printed paper premium photo issued as part of a mail-away set by Motion Picture Magazine in 1946 ... the same year that The Razor's Edge was released:

Major DVR alert for Wednesday night, September 14, at 8 pm EST on TCM - the racy and rare pre-code The Story of Temple Drake (1933) starring Miriam Hopkins is premieres on TCM as one of Robert Osborne's picks.
I caught this one a little over a year ago resorting to watching it on YouTube and I've been dying to get my hands on a copy ever since. Below I went searching in our Classic Movie Search Engine and found five posts dedicated to Drake, a movie based on one of the few William Faulkner novels I've ever read, Sanctuary.

The star of The Story of Temple Drake, Miriam Hopkins, pictured with a cigarette in hand on a 1930's Garbaty tobacco card from Germany, one of the most beautiful and in-demand sets of tobacco cards.

inside ClassicMovieSearch.com:
- Obscure Classics references Miriam Hopkins' "carefree, promiscuous behavior" in their review of The Story of Temple Drake
- Boiling Sand mentions that The Story of Temple Drake "was so scandalous that the Production Code demanded it never be screened again."
- The Hollywood Revue catalogs some of the sin found in The Story of Temple Drake: "a loose woman, gangsters, murder, and violence against women," just to name a few!
- Classic Movies Digest calls The Story of Temple Drake "a pre-code masterpiece ... truly one of the most adult films of the era"
- Jack La Rue - Sexual Outlaw is Shadowplay's look at The Story of Temple Drake, which it refers to as a "pre-code smut-holocaust"
If you're a fan of pre-code cinema you cannot miss this movie!

Watch out for Jack La Rue's Trigger in The Story of Temple Drake

Fay Wray was born September 15, 1907. Today I'm going to use the Classic Movie Search to go find Fay Wray articles from around the web that aren't specifically about King Kong! Kong may be mentioned, how could it not, but Fay should be the focus.

Fay Wray is pictured here on a card from the Movie Millions boxed game set issued in 1938.

Earlier today I took a look at TCM's Star of the Month Kirk Douglas over on Immortal Ephemera and listed the entire September 2011 TCM schedule of Kirk Douglas movies along with an introductory bio and a brief look at a couple of my favorite Kirk Douglas flicks.
Over here I'm just going to point you under the photo to some of the other great Kirk Douglas articles I found inside our Classic Movie Search:

- Laura at Laura's Miscellaneous Musings posted her look at TCM Star of the Month: Kirk Douglas just about the same time as I did earlier today!
- Since we have the good fortune to still have Kirk Douglas with us he gets a good round of birthday celebrations from various bloggers every year. Here's Sharilee at FilmPhiles wishing him a Happy 93rd in December '09; and from the year before here's Art, Movies, Wood and whatnot's tribute at #92
- If you're looking for a Kirk Douglas movie review, we'll go with Dawn at the Classic Film and TV Cafe, who looks at Ace in the Hole (aka The Big Carnival) - 1951
- And for Kirk, the man himself, we go to a guest post from Kristen on the Viv and Larry Blog, who viewed Spartacus at the TCM Classic Film Festival earlier this year and reported on the film and the man who introduced it with Robert Osborne: Kirk Douglas
