A documentary plus 12 films featuring the legendary Bette Davis run for 24 hours on TCM Summer Under the Stars, Wednesday, August 3. A nice mix consisting mostly of early and peak Bette Davis titles with personal favorites including Bordertown (1935), Juarez (1939), and The Letter (1940).
Despite a schedule littered with classics also including Now, Voyager (1942) and Jezebel (1938), the pick I'm looking most forward to is the first one: The Working Man (1933) airing at 6 am. Why? I've never seen it.
Here's hoping there's also something new for you mixed in amongst the Bette Davis classics airing Wednesday:

It's December 11, 1938 and you're sitting down to morning coffee with your Sunday copy of the Philadelphia Record. Tucked inside, just like every week for awhile now, is this paper supplement photo picturing today's featured star, Bette Davis:

inside ClassicMovieSearch.com:
- The Search reveals tons of reviews of Bette Davis movies, but we'll stick with a select handful of those featuring titles airing on TCM August 3: Stacia at She Blogged by Night has an ongoing series of Bette Davis film reviews, but here's Bette Davis Project #4: Bordertown (1935), which airs at 11:00 am Wednesday; Films de France also carries multiple Bette Davis movie reviews, so I selected a personal favorite, Juarez (1939) by James Travers, which airs Wednesday at 2:15 pm; Bette's also a favorite of Noir and Chick Flicks where Dawn covered The Corn Is Green (1945), airing at midnight. Noir and Flick Chicks also features a 6-part Bette Davis biography which begins here.
- Lots of books have been written about Bette Davis and so have many an online review. The Classic Movie Search finds Teresa Watson's Book Review: Dark Victory - The Life of Bette Davis on The Midnight Palace; Angela at The Hollywood Revue reviewed Richard Schickel's Bette Davis: Larger Than Life; and while not a review Raquelle's original article The Uglification of Bette Davis does quote from Lawrence J. Quirk's book about Bette.
- Film clip - KC at Classic Movies embedded a clip of Bette Davis on the Dick Cavett Show, which I agree is at least my favorite bit of Bette out there. The star is so down to earth there!
- Lots of photos - Operator_99 gives us a heaping of Bette Davis pics on Allure

A lucky 13 films featuring Paulette Goddard air on TCM beginning at 6 am EST Tuesday, August 2.
I knew the Classic Movie Search would turn up some good Chaplin stuff to go with the double-shot of movies airing between 6:30 and 10:15, but I was surprised at the quality of general Paulette Goddard articles that turned up. In fact, I didn't need to go beyond page one of the Search today to find the five wonderful posts listed just below our collectible image.
Paulette Goddard on TCM, August 2

Today's collectible is always a favorite, Paulette Goddard is featured on a Dixie Cup Lid. If you're not familiar with the collectible then, yep, you'd pull this cover off the top of your ice cream cup, in this case during the summer of 1942, and there'd be Paulette Goddard staring back at you in promotion of The Forest Rangers. Here she is now:

Thought it'd be a great time to show this St. Louis area bus pass good for the week of September 7-13, 1947. It features Ayres with The Unfaithful co-stars Ann Sheridan and Zachary Scott. The Unfaithful airs at midnight eastern time, just after Young Dr. Kildare.

Thanks so much to @ClaraBowArchive on Twitter for mentioning that Friday marks the 106th anniversary of Clara Bow's birth. The sad thing is that the It Girl doesn't show up anywhere on TV Friday to celebrate. No TCM, not even a Fox Movie Channel airing of my favorite, Call Her Savage (1932). The Classic Movie Search will do its best to fill this void.
PS: We gain revenge on TCM for their Clara Bow oversight by de-indexing them from the Classic Movie Search. No, actually I did this the other night and the change has had the desired effect. I found some very meaty results when searching Clara Bow tonight. Now I just have to find an easy way to nuke everybody's archive pages to cut back on duplicate results.
Today's collectible is a 1935 BAT Cinema Celebrities Tobacco Card featuring Clara Bow in color:

- @ClaraBowArchive isn't just a Twitter account, it's a photo packed Tumblr site dedicated to Clara Bow and just added to the ClassicMovieSearch this evening.
- The Clara Bow Page is an oldie but goodie. I've been visiting this one so long that I still have some VHS tapes of Bow movies I bought from them!
- Clara Bow by John E. Petty and Grey Smith is on the Classic Images website and I imagine appeared in the magazine itself at one time.
- KC at Classic Movies posted a video of Clara Bow singing from YouTube awhile back. The audio was choppy for me, hopefully better for you, but Clara's worth watching even on mute.
- Clara Bow: Death of the It Girl is on Classic Movie Gab
- More inof about Bow's later years can be found on the Rex Bell page at B-Westerns.com.
- It was early days for A Mythical Monkey's site when Clara Bow was named Best Supporting Actress of 1927-28
- And it was even further back, five years ago, when Greenbriar Picture Shows published a Two Part tribute to Clara Bow: Part 1 and Part 2
